Which of the Ten Commandments prohibits Homosexuality?

Which of the ten commandments prohibits this form of sexual expression?

Only two of the prime commandments mention sexual matters and homosexuality is not listed among them which is extraordinary if God had a prohibition against it of the magnitude which some Christians (and some Jews) seem to possess.

The seventh commandment (mitzvah) condemns adultery, and by extension multiple liasons.

The tenth commandment (mitzvah) condemns lust leading to the surrender of the existing relationship.

Note that neither commandment condemns cohabitation between the same sex (whether male or female).

It is my conclusion that the Ten Commandments (called in Hebrew the Ten Words) are the BASIC MORAL FUNDAMENTALS upon which the 613 cultural expressions of Israel are based.

  1. Well, reader and Dear Mr. Kuhn.

The Commandments (Mitzvah, plura Mitzvot) were made to make our spiritual life righteous, like other Mitzvot that Yeshua left to us as well. So, when we perform the Mitvot in the correct spiritual way, we're are united with this Mitzvah and G-d, because "The Torah and the Holy One are one (Zorah, Acharei 3:37a). Otherwise, I mean that if we don't do that for the right spiritual reasons, we'll have a shall (Kelippah) around us separating us from G-d. "This (the Kelippah) therefore creates a separation between the holiness of this commandment and the holiness of the Holy One.

The book I read (The Kabbalistic Tradition - edited and translated by Alan Unterman) says, "Even if a person stumbles by committing a sin, he should still not increase his despair which would nullify his service (of G-d). He should only be sad for the sin itself. He should then rejoice in the Creator, since he fully regrets his action and has in mind not return to his foolishness in any way. Even if a person knows that he has certainly not fulfilled his obligation in a particular matter, because of many obstacles, he should still not despair. He should think that the Creator, who tests the heart and the inner parts of man, knows that he wishes to do (G-d’s will) in the best manner, but it is just that he is unable. He should strengthen himself to rejoice in the Creator… For sometimes there is a Mitzvah that has within it a small amount of sin, yet he should not pay attention to the Evil Inclination (Yetzer Hara) which wishes to nullify his performance of the Mitzvah. He should say to the Yetzer Hara that his purpose is not merely to perform this Mitzvah, rather it is to give pleasure to the Creator, may He be blessed, through this Mitzvah. With this the Yetzer Hara will depart from him, with G-d’s help.”

What I mean that being who you are is not a sin and you’re not breaking any Mitzvah, but your deeds and your sins will bring a Kelippah that come between you and G-d… So, read the commandments and see that Being who you are is not a sin, cause G-d makes you as you are, but you must think about your deeds.

  2. Dear Mr. Kuhn Thanks a lot. But now I am reading a lot about Kabbalah, Zorah, Bible, Torah and so on. I also love history... But as I am a new Gay Messianic Jew in my country I just wanna share my faith, of course I am not egocentric and not even I have got religious bigotry, I just want to everybody share in my blog and yours the happiness of being themselves int their faith in G-d and Yeshua. Therefore I follow the Messianic belief. I hope you understand... and of course I will share my comments in your such interesting blog. Thanks a lot for the opportunity you're givin' me. Congratulations for people all over the world checking out your blog, I also have people following my blog, but most of them with no religions view, however I don't also a lot about religion (as I will do), I also write about the books I finished reading (I'd do this since I read my first book lol), but Congratulations again. Keep working.

    thanks a lot.
